Peter Rowan

Grammy-award winner Peter Rowan is a singer-songwriter with a career spanning over five decades. From his early years playing under the tutelage of Bluegrass veteran Bill Monroe, to his time in Old & In the Way and his breakout as a solo musician and bandleader, Rowan has built a devoted, international fan base through a solid stream of recordings, collaborative projects, and constant touring.

The Travelin’ McCourys

The McCoury brothers- Ronnie (mandolin) and Rob (banjo) - were born into the bluegrass tradition. Talk about a source abundant and pure: their father, Del, is among the most influential and successful musicians in the history of the genre. Years on the road with Dad in the Del McCoury Band honed their knife-edge chops, and encouraged the duo to imagine how traditional bluegrass could cut innovative pathways into 21st century music.

Hot Buttered Rum

For nearly two decades, Hot Buttered Rum has attracted a truly multi-generational audience across the States with their high energy and fun-loving performances that showcase their stunning instrumental and vocal ingenuity. Hot Buttered Rum is excited to independently release Lonesome Panoramic, their sixth studio album, on July 20, 2018.

Laney Lou & The Bird Dogs

Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs are a relentlessly energetic folk-rock band based out of Bozeman , Montana. Combining a soaring four part harmony and rock 'n' roll drive, a Bird Dog show gets people dancing and singing along to original tunes and covers alike.

Larry Keel Experience

"With an unofficial title of ‘Flatpickin Legend and Master Fisherman’, Larry is considered one of the best flatpickers on the planet. Steeped in the old-timey and with a gravelly voice as deep and rich as moonshine on a riverbank... Larry’s flat-picking style is as seamless as it is gymnastic and he’s a master at simulating banjo rolls, mandolin runs or even parts that you would normally hear played on a fiddle." ~ Mousike Magazine

Dead Horses

'My Mother the Moon’ is Dead Horses’ third album, which Rolling Stone has already called "a beautifully uncluttered collection of songs that lives somewhere between the church, the field, the back porch and the library." The album follows hot on the heels of their acclaimed 2016 release, ‘Cartoon Moon," a record that prompted the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel to declare Dead Horses a Band To Watch and earned them honors for "Best Album," "Best Americana/Bluegrass Artist," and "Best Female Vocalist" at the 2017 WAMI Awards.

Rumpke Mountain Boys

The Rumpke Mountain Boys combine signature vocals, a unique command of string instruments (acoustic guitar, mandolin, upright bass and banjo) and dynamic special effects into a singular musical experience. An emotion filled musical stream of consciousness with no setlist, minimal structure, and intuitive improvisational flow. In this way, they summon the energy of the crowd as their guide in linking just the right music to precise moments in time.

Whitewater Ramble

Described as “High-Octane Rocky Mountain DanceGrass”, Whitewater Ramble (WWR) uses a simple recipe to craft it’s sound: start with bluegrass instrumentation, add drums, and finish with a boundary-less approach to grassing-up everything from disco house grooves to roots to Americana.

Armchair Boogie

Armchair Boogie takes progressive bluegrass to new heights by genre-bending in the funkiest of fashions. The Madison, Wisconsin based lads show much promise in high-energy live performances and quality studio work. With their debut album released spring 2018, Armchair Boogie continues to entertain audiences across the midwest and beyond.

Bridger Creek Boys

The Bridger Creek Boys are an acoustic Bluegrass quartet steeped in old-time Bluegrass tradition while pushing the genre with “Newgrass”. The Band mixes originals with covers of traditional bluegrass material (Bill Monroe, Dock Boggs, etc) and more contemporary artists (Grateful Dead, Steve Earle, The Band, etc).

Lazy Owl String Band

They are bringing driving stompgrass to Bozeman. Grab some whiskey, put on your dancing shoes, and get ready for a good time when you come out to see them!

The Fresh Boys

Bozeman's own The Fresh Boys have been pickin' together for years and making people smile and dance along the way the whole time.

Benjamin Jaffe (of HONEYHONEY)

Best known for his part in Americana/Folk band HONEYHONEY, Benjamin Jaffe brings a fantastic solo show to Bozeman Bluegrass Festival.
